Scroll Movies

Terms of Use

Last updated October 16, 2026

These terms (including the community rules in section 5) are the end-user license agreement for Scroll Movies. They are an agreement between you and Eli Riedel, who operates Scroll Movies ("we", "us"). By taking the movie personality quiz, creating an account, starting a trial, subscribing, or otherwise using the app or website, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Scroll Movies.

Privacy and advertising measurement. We advertise Scroll Movies on Facebook, Instagram and Reddit and use Meta Platforms and Reddit as advertising measurement partners. The Privacy Policy explains what the app and website share with them (for Meta, app events such as install, account creation, quiz completion and checkout started, only if you allow tracking, and trial and membership events sent through RevenueCat; for Reddit, trial and membership events sent by our server, only if you allow tracking, and website visits only after you accept the cookie banner; your device's advertising identifier only when you allow tracking), why, and how to turn it off: iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, the "Share usage data" switch in the app, "Cookie settings" on the website, and Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. Scroll Movies itself shows no ads.

The short version. Scroll Movies is a paid membership that renews automatically until you cancel. The yearly plan can start with a 7-day free trial; the monthly plan has no trial. The price, billing period and trial are shown before you pay. Cancel any time: App Store memberships in your Apple Account's Subscriptions settings, web memberships under Settings › Membership in the app. Trailers are played by YouTube and film information comes from TMDB; we don't host or sell films. There is zero tolerance for abusive content or members.

1. What Scroll Movies is

Scroll Movies is a membership app for discovering films and TV series: a personalized vertical feed of trailers and other videos, title pages with cast, ratings and where to watch, a watchlist, ratings and reviews of what you've seen, TV episode tracking, comments, messages, shared lists, the ability to follow other members and the people who make films, and notifications about activity that involves you. Scroll Movies is not a streaming service: it does not show full films or episodes.

2. Your license to use the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Scroll Movies app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial enjoyment, as allowed by these terms and, if you got the app from the App Store, by the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms. You may not copy, modify, resell, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.

3. Membership, free trial and automatic renewal

4. Your account

5. Your content and the community rules (zero tolerance)

Comments and replies, reviews and ratings, messages, notes you send with a title, list names and the titles you add to shared lists, your username, display name, bio and profile photo are "your content". You keep ownership of it. When you delete a comment, review or your account, what you wrote is removed; if other people replied to a comment, their replies may stay under a "[deleted]" marker. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute your content within Scroll Movies for as long as it is posted, and to keep copies as needed for moderation, safety, and legal reasons. Public content (your profile, comments and reviews) can be seen by other members; messages are visible to the people in the conversation, and shared lists to their members. In return:

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive members. Comments, reviews, messages, notes sent with titles, usernames, display names, bios and list names pass an automated word filter, and a person reviews reports. You can report any comment, review, message, list or member from inside the app and block anyone. Blocking someone ends follows between you both ways, and they can no longer message you, send you titles or invite you to lists. You choose who can message you in the app's settings: everyone, people you follow, or no one. We review reports within 24 hours and remove objectionable content and suspend or remove the accounts responsible. Messages are private between the people in the conversation, but they are stored on our servers and, if a message is reported, we can review it to enforce these rules. We may remove content, restrict features, or close accounts that break these rules; if we close your account for breaking them, we don't refund the current period.

6. Trailers, film information and where to watch

7. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512). To be effective, your notice must be in writing and include:

  1. a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them;
  2. identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed (or, for several works, a representative list);
  3. identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough information for us to find it in Scroll Movies (for example the title it appears on, the comment or review text and username, or a screenshot);
  4. your contact information: name, postal address, telephone number, and email address;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  6. a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Send notices to our copyright agent: Eli Riedel, hello@scrollmovies.app, 216 Flint Ridge Rd, Apt 2201, San Marcos, TX 78666, United States. Please put "Copyright notice" in the subject line. Trailers are hosted by YouTube, not by us: to have a video itself removed, use YouTube's copyright process; we can also stop showing a specific video in Scroll Movies if you tell us which one.

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. §512(g) to the same address. We remove material that is the subject of a valid notice, and we close the accounts of repeat infringers. Knowingly false notices or counter-notices can create liability for damages.

8. Other services

Scroll Movies relies on services run by others: YouTube for video playback, TMDB and Movie of the Night for film data and availability, Apple and Google for sign-in, and Apple, RevenueCat and Stripe for payments. Their terms apply to your use of their services, and we are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.

9. Availability, changes and termination

We work to keep Scroll Movies running, but we don't promise it will always be available or error-free, or that any particular film, series or video will be in it. We may add, change, or remove features. You can stop using Scroll Movies at any time. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or if we have to for legal reasons. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid web membership; for App Store memberships we will stop renewals and point you to Apple's refund process.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

Scroll Movies is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud), or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

11. Apple-specific terms

If you downloaded the app from Apple's App Store, you and we also agree that:

12. Governing law and disputes

Please contact us first; most problems can be fixed by email. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hays County, Texas. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another country whose law gives you that right, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and may bring a claim in your local courts.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and the date at the top will change. If you keep using Scroll Movies after the change takes effect, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, cancel your membership and stop using Scroll Movies. Changes never apply to a charge you have already paid.

14. General

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them to a company that takes over Scroll Movies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Scroll Movies.
